Kathryn Frantz, 98

Kathryn “Kate” Frantz, 98, of Powell, Ohio, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012. She was born Jan. 19, 1914, in Portsmouth, Ohio to Dora and Norma McDonielPowell. Kate was a member of St. Mary’s Church and retired from Williams Manufacturing Company. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Frantz; sister, Bertha Pyle; grandsons, Charles and John Ferrell; and great-grandson Andrew Ferrell. Kate is survived by a large, extended family including her sons, Robert (Peggy), Richard (Jenelda) and Jerry (Connie) and her daughters, Janet (Charles) Ferrell, Joan (Rowland) Kanner, Lynda (Robert) Beebe and Jackie (Robert) Albrecht; 20 grand-children and spouses; 38 great-grand-children and spouses; and six great-great-grand-children. She will be remembered for her talent in sewing, upholstery and cake decorating for family birthdays. She lived independently and still drove her car until the last few months. Her greatest gift was her warm, engaging personality and she touched all who were privileged to know her. Her ancestors were veterans of the Civil War and the Revolutionary War. She was a descendant of Elder William and MaryBrewster, Mayflowers Pilgrims. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. MONDAY, OCT. 29, 2012, at ST. JOAN OF ARC CATHOLIC CHURCH, 10700 Liberty Rd., Powell, Ohio 43065 where family will receive friends before the Mass from 10-11 a.m. The Reverend Jeffrey E. Tigyerwill celebrate the Mass.
