South Webster to face Eastern in district final

PDT Sports Report

No. 1 South Webster defeated No. 4 Trimble in three sets Wednesday evening to advance to the Division IV Region 15 Jackson 1 District final.

The Lady Jeeps won the opening set 25-12, followed that with a 25-19 win in the second set and finished the sweep with a 25-14 final set.

South Webster will play Beaver Eastern 4 p.m. Saturday at Jackson High School.

No. 2 Beaver Eastern def. No. 6 Whiteoak 25-2, 25-14, 25-6

No. 2 Beaver Eastern throttled Whiteoak Wednesday evening to move on to the Division IV, Region 15, Jackson 1 District Final.

The Lady Eagles will face the top-seeded Lady Jeeps of South Webster 4 p.m. Saturday at Jackson High School.

Division II Boys Soccer Southeast District Semifinals

No. 4 Waverly def. No. 2 Circleville 2-0

No. 4 Waverly defeated No. 2 Circleville 2-0 Wednesday evening to advance to the Division II Southeast District Final at Valley High School on Saturday.

It is the second-straight season Waverly has advanced to the District Final game, losing last season 4-1 to Warren.

The Tigers held a 1-0 advantage at the intermission thanks to a goal from Willie Bevens with 27 minutes left in the first half.

In the second half, Waverly added to its advantage over Circleville with a Jean Paul White goal assisted by Jacob Pupero with 23 minutes remaining.

Tigers goalkeeper Caleb Moore compiled a dozen saves in the win.

Waverly defeated Chillicothe 4-0 to open postseason play, then beat Unioto 3-2 to reach the District semifinals before Wednesday’s upset of Circleville. Circleville had won ever post season contest by two goals.

The Tigers will play the winner of the No. 1 Lancaster Fairfield Union and No. 2 Vincent Warren contest, which concluded after press time Wednesday. If Waverly wins the District final, it will be the first in program history.
