Portsmouth Trinity Lodge No. 9, Free and Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliate will host Gospel Extravaganza program noon at Tracy Park Saturday, Oct. 27. The event is scheduled to showcase the gospel artists from both near and far.

“Come one, come all” is the decree from the Portsmouth Trinity Lodge No. 9, as they extend an invitation to the community.

The members of The 21st Century Committee, an auxiliary group of men who are members of Portsmouth’s Trinity Lodge No. 9, Free and Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliate helped organize the event.

The 21st Century Club Committee consists of Eugene Collins Sr. who serves as Chairman, Ralph Clay, Phil McArtis, Gary Hairston, Brady Womack, and Jerry Woodson, who all serve as Team Captains.

The event will showcase the gospel musical talent of gifted performers from both near and far, at no charge to the general public.

Gary Hairston, one of the team captains for the event, said that he is excited, and looking forward to the Gospel Music Extravaganza.

“We are really anticipating a great time, we have been working on the details of this event for quite a few months,” Hairston said.

Ralph Clay, who is the entertainment coordinator for the Extravaganza, said the community will entertained by a bevy of talented musical performers, during the course of The 21st Century Committee’s Gospel Music Extravaganza program.

According to Clay, there will representation from many local churches, as well as guests coming from Ashland, Ky., Ironton, and Blacklick, Ohio.

“We are looking forward to food, fun, and fellowship and a great memorial. One of our special guests that will perform will be “Pure Praise” of Minford Church of the Nazarene. This is a group of young people that will do a liturgical dance,” Clay said.

The general public will also be afforded the opportunity to witness the mass releasing of specially designated Memorial Balloons from Tracy Park. Attached to each of the Memorial Balloons will be the names of deceased loved ones. The balloons that will be released will be those which were purchased in advance.

“We are hopeful that this event will be a success, so that we can make it grow each year,” Hairston said.
