Before the two schools become familiar with each other in 2014 as members of the SOC I, Green (2-2) travels Friday to McDermott and faces Northwest (0-4) in the last game before each team starts their respective conference slates.

The Bobcats look to break a two-game losing streak in this contest. They dropped a 40-8 home decision to Dayton Jefferson.

The Mohawks are in search of their first win after last Saturday night’s 42-13 loss to Notre Dame. Since the 23-21 loss Week 1 to Chillicothe Southeastern, Northwest has lost by an average margin of 26 points.

When Green and Northwest last faced each other, it was Week 10 of the 2003 season. The Mohawks won 62-6 at home.

Valley (4-0) at South Point (0-4)

Valley wraps up its nonconference slate Friday with a trip to winless South Point.

The Indians are in possession of a 16-game regular season nonconference winning streak after last week’s 46-13 win over Chesapeake played in Lucasville. The win also means Valley is unbeaten in their last 14 regular season contests dating back to last year.

For the Pointers, ending a 12-game winning streak against the Indians would be the team’s best highlight. They come in having lost 12-straight and 30 out of their last 35 games dating back to the start of the 2009 season.

Valley has won three-straight games over South Point, including the 41-8 victory a year before. The Pointers have not won a game in this series since the 28-7 victory in 2008.

Chesapeake (1-3) at West (1-3)

West looks to build a head of steam going into SOC II action as the Senators host Chesapeake in Friday’s nonconference tilt.

Last week, West earned its first victory of the season, shutting out winless Rock Hill 28-0. The Panthers enter the contest looking to rebound from last week’s 46-13 setback against Valley.

The Senators won last year’s meeting 21-7 in Chesapeake. West has won every contest between the two schools since this latest series started in 2007.

Waverly (1-3) at Athens (3-1)

A week after picking up its first win of the season, Waverly goes onto the road with dreams of a 2-3 mark as the Tigers take on Athens.

Waverly defeated host Alexander 28-12 in last week’s action. The Bulldogs are winners of 13 out of their last 14 dating back to last season, which included a 42-21 win over the host Tigers.

East (3-1) at Dayton Jefferson (2-2)

East goes back on the road for the second week in a row Friday as the Tartans look to avenge last week’s 60-8 loss at Raceland (Ky.) when they go to Dayton Jefferson.

This is the first meeting between the two schools. The Broncos went into Franklin Furnace last week and came away with a 40-8 victory over Green.

Notre Dame (3-1) at Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph (1-3)

The final major trip of the season for Notre Dame comes Saturday night when the Titans travel to Cleveland and face Villa Angela-St. Joseph.

Notre Dame is coming off a 42-13 home win last week over Northwest. The Vikings earned their first win of the season a week ago, defeating Cleveland Heights Lutheran East 18-12.

Despite the unfamiliarity between the two schools, Villa Angela-St. Joseph is no stranger to Scioto County opponents. In 2009, the Vikings lost 45-21 at Wheelersburg.

Southern (1-3) at Symmes Valley (3-1)

A week before defending its SOC I crown, Symmes Valley hosts Southern.

The Vikings bounced back after their 29-21 Week 3 loss to Chesapeake with 62-6 drubbing of Manchester. The Tornadoes don’t want to lose three-straight after Federal Hocking hung a 14-7 loss on them a week ago.

Last season, the two teams met in Week 1. Symmes Valley prevailed 34-21.

Chillicothe Huntington (3-1) at Piketon (2-2)

First half turnovers last week cost Piketon a chance to gain a leg up in the race for the SVC crown as the Redstreaks fell 42-14 to visiting Westfall.

Piketon is at home again Friday night to take on the surprising Chillicothe Huntington Huntsmen, who have won three-consecutive games that include a 46-31 thriller over Adena. The Redstreaks won last year’s contest 49-26.

Ashland (Ky.) Fairview (4-0) at Greenup County (0-4)

It will be a tale of two teams Friday night when undefeated Ashland Fairview travels to Lloyd to take on winless Greenup County.

The Eagles improved to 4-0 on the season a week ago with a 69-29 stomping of Liberty (Ky.) Casey County. The Musketeers dropped to 0-4 after being shut out last Friday by Dry Ridge Grant County 26-0.

Fairview won last year’s game 42-7.
