Judge William T. Marshall has set bond at $1 million each for three people indicted for murder in the death of Felipe Lopez, 24, of Friendship. Lopez’s badly burned body was found in a burned-out truck in March.
Thomas Henry Steinhauer, 47, of Portsmouth; Raymond J. Linkous, 35, of Wheelersburg and David K Gerald, 37, also of Wheelersburg were arraigned Wednesday morning, and have been indicted on two counts of aggravated murder; one count of murder; one count each of conspiracy to aggravated murder and conspiracy to murder; and one count each of arson, tampering with evidence and kidnapping.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office received a 911 call March 7 that a truck was on fire in the 4400 block of Junior Furnace Powellsville Road, Franklin Furnace. Deputies and the Green Township Fire Department responded to the location. Donini said the body was discovered after the fire was put out. Detectives and the State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to investigate.
“They all entered not guilty pleas and will continue with the same lawyers that had been appointed to them down in Municipal Court,” Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn said. “And they are set for a pre-trial on April 18.”
Kuhn said it has not been determined yet whether they will be tried together or separately.
