Harold Robert Delotell, 87, of New Boston died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at SOMC Hospice. He was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Forrest and Erma Conley Delotell. Harold was a retired Engineer with the N&S Railroad, served in the Navy during WWII and a member of the First Church of God of New Boston and James Irwin Post 622, American Legion. He is survived by a son, Tim (Patti) Delotell of Centerville; 2 daughters, Kay (Bob) Winebrenner of New Boston, Kathy (Shaun) Wright of Portsmouth; a sister, Roberta Colegrove of Portsmouth; 5 grandchildren, Nick (Jill) Delotell, Megan (Mark) Calabro, Christian Delotell, Rob (Barbie) Wright, Brittany (Carter) Wright; 4 great-grandchildren, Noah Carter, Andrew and Abigail Delotell, and the soon to arrive, Mia Wright; special friends Alfred Hale and Sugg Hickman; and many other friends and relatives. Harold was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Worrell Delotell; a brother, Jim Delotell; and 2 sisters, Janet Kinder and Mildred Delotell.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the First Church of God of New Boston with Pastor Acy Gibson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with graveside military honors by the James Irwin Post 622, American Legion. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston and one hour prior to the service at the church.
