Robert “Bob” Fitzgerald Sr., of Piketon, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Pleasant Hill Manor in Piketon.
He was born March 17, 1932, in Dayton; the son of the late Raymond and Comellia Burr Fitzgerald. Bob was a self-employed mechanic and a World War II Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lila Alaine Fitzgerald; five brothers, Howard Fitzgerald, Elmer Fitzgerald, Harold Fitzgerald, Raymond Fitzgerald, and Gene Fitzgerald; three sisters, Helen Evans, Frieda Henderson, and Rita Cubberly; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Surviving are his daughters Breda Begley of Portsmouth, Juanita (Keith) McGinnis of Dayton, Linda (Kenneth) Morrill of Lucasville, Michelle (Tim) Tomlin of Piketon, and Comellia Fitzgerald of Tennessee; his sons Mike (Mary Anne) Fitzgerald of Portsmouth and Robert Fitzgerald Jr. of Portsmouth; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ross Fitzgerald and Herman Fitzgerald.
He loved the outdoors and being outside.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Melcher Funeral Home with Pastor David Blevins officiating. Friends may call at Melcher Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Military honors by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.
