Betty Christine Bartlett, 84, of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at SOMC Hospice.

A native of Hanging Rock, Ohio, she was born June 3, 1923, to the late Eugene Haggerty and Kathryn Stephenson Haggerty.

Betty was a member of Central Church of Christ, and was a longtime volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She was a 1941 graduate of Portsmouth High School.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, David Bartlett, on Jan. 29, 1993, whom she married Sept. 10, 1947, in Portsmouth.

She is survived by two sons, David Patrick Bartlett (Cherie) of Stout and Dale Lynn Bartlett (Ann) of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Nicholas Bartlett, Joseph Bartlett, Matthew Bartlett, John Bartlett, Ashley Bartlett and Michael Bartlett; two great-grandsons, Evan Bartlett and Nathan Bartlett; and a sister, Marcia Criswell of Valdosta, Ga.

Betty was preceded in death by a son, Michael Dean Bartlett; four brothers, Laurel Haggerty, Paul Haggerty, Myron Haggerty and Bill Haggerty; and two sisters, Audrey Knisley and Irene Nicolet.

Funeral services will take place 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at F. C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth, with Dennis Dawes officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Daehler's.

Memorial donations may be made to Central Church of Christ, American Cancer Society or to SOMC Hospice.
