Arretta “Retta” McNeal Seymore, 91, of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Golden Years Convalescent Center.

She was born Sept. 19, 1916, in Elliston, Va., to the late Charles Robert and Gracie V. Jones Worrell. Retta was a member of New Boston First Church of God and retired as an office assistant for Dr. David Livingston. She also had worked at the former Montgomery Ward store.

She also was preceded in death March 9, 1991, by her husband, Benjamin Collison Seymore, whom she married in Portsmouth, Jan. 16, 1943; a sister, Betty Delotell; a brother, Thaddeus Worrell; and a grandson, Kevin Seymore.

Surviving her are sons, Charles Robert (Sharon) Seymore of Portsmouth and William Collison (Helen) Seymore of Prattville, Ala.; two granddaughters; four stepgrandchildren; four great-grandsons and a brother-in-law, Harold Delotell of New Boston.

Funeral services will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at New Boston First Church of God, with the Rev. Acy Gibson officiating and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth on Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., and at the church Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour.
