According to the OSHP, an investigation by the Scioto County Prosecutor's Office led investigators to believe there was a drug trafficking operation being conducted in Clarktown.
The prosecutor's office joined efforts with the OSHP in a traffic stop near Lucasville on Saturday. The suspects reportedly were traveling from Columbus to a residence in Clarktown where it is believed they had been selling large quantities of crack cocaine for the past several months, the OSHP said.
Troopers arrested Aaron Burkes, 26, Ernest Shaw, 34, and Lovando Kenney, 35 - all three from Columbus - after troopers discovered 46 grams of suspected crack cocaine in the vehicle.
“We keep our ears open for any kind of drug tips, and try to use those to stop people who are committing traffic violations and possibly make drug arrests,” said Sgt. Shannon Morehead, of the OSHP.
Morehead said the Ports-mouth Post encounters trafficking from all over the state coming into this area.
“We do have a fair amount of people, but it's not just from Columbus. It seems to be from all over,” she said.
All three were incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail and face up to 10 years in prison for the charges of possession.
Additional charges of aggravated trafficking will be presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury later this week.
