Local singer named top artist|CD ‘Timeline' goes platinum

Steve Free, of Portsmouth, has been named Fraternity Records top artist and one of the most popular artists on U.S. and European Radio.

He has placed five songs on the Top 100 charts and he has won numerous music industry awards including two King Eagle Airplay International Awards, 1996 AIRA Singer Songwriter of the Year, a Platinum record, seven ASCAP awards and a Grammy nomination.

He is also an Ohio Arts Council and Midwest Arts Ohio Artist on Tour and nominated twice for the Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio.

His CD “Timeline” was named one of the top traditional country/folk albums of 2000 by ASCAP Magazine and he received a platinum record for overseas airplay from Airplay International, Nashville.

He will perform at Live at Five Cruise 'n Shop in Boneyfiddle on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.; every Wednesday night from 6 to 9 p.m. at Williams Restaurant, 603 Chillicothe Street; every Thursday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Ye Old Lantern, 601 Second St.; Father's Day Concert, Sunday, June 18 at 2 p.m., Camden Park, U.S. 60, Huntington, W.Va.; and June 29 at 5 p.m. at Ye Olde Lantern for Business After Hours.
