It was a solid night of shooting for South Webster on Friday. It was even sweeter for Brigham Waginger.
The senior guard poured in 18 points in the Jeeps' 64-48 win over Valley, but in the process, scored his 1,000th career point. The milestone mark came in the fourth quarter as Waginger put in one of his game-high eight baskets.
“It's a great accomplishment for any player to score 1,000 points,” said South Webster coach Marc Kreischer. “(Brigham) puts pressure on other teams, both offensively and defensively, and sparks our breaks.”
Evan DeCamp led the team with 20 points and Jordan Lower hit three of South Webster's five 3-pointers, for nine points, in the win.
Chuck Gregory scored 10 points for the Indians, but the team was held to 10 points or less three of the four quarters.
“I thought we were very unselfish again,” Kreischer said. “Evan really set the tone for us inside.”
The Jeeps' triple-header against East today, originally scheduled to be played in Sciotoville, has been changed to South Webster.

Wheelersburg 72, Oak Hill 46
Oak Hill gave Wheelersburg a scare for the first half, but a 27-6 third quarter provide all the difference the Pirates needed.
Four Wheelersburg players scored in double figures, led by Drew Spradlin's 15. Cam Miller had 13, Seth Cowgill had 11, and Gary Salyers had 10 to round out the leading scorers.
“We played better offensively in the second half,” said Pirates coach Tom Barrick. “Three 3s at the start of the third quarter broke the game open. Hopefully, we can take the second half offensive production and build on that.”

Girls
Minford 63, Waverly 34
Minford's youth movement was able to carry the team when the Lady Falcons needed them on Thursday.
Freshman starter Breslyn Harris had 11 points, six assists, and five steals for the best game of her career and several other underclassmen stepped up their performance as well as Minford won 63-34.
Freshmen Whitney Mcmanus and Heather Rudd and sophmores Charrity Moore and Kelly Martin all scored for the Lady Falcons while giving the starters a break. McManus led the reserves with 11 points and six rebounds. Sophmore Jeni Spradlin made her presence felt on defense.
“The youth really carried us in the second quarter giving us a chance to get back into a rotation,” said Minford coach Kim Conley.
Spradlin was charged with guarding Katrina Beekman who scored 20 points in the game. 11 of Beekman's 20 came in the first half and she scored only two in the third quarter-the only two points Waverly would score.
“Our transition really started to wear them down a little bit,” said Conley. “We defended Beekman considerably better in the third quarter.”
