The regular meeting of the Nile Township trustees scheduled for Aug. 8 has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Township Office, 12215 U.S. 52, Friendship.
An open house for the new fire station and trustees office has been scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27, from noon to 3 p.m. by the Nile Township trustees.
The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be available.
Clay trustees schedule meeting over sheriff levy
The trustees of Clay Township will hold a special board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 25, at the Clay Senior Center for the purpose of discussing the proposal to put the sheriff levy on the November ballot.
Road work is announced
Craig J. Opperman P.E., Scioto County Engineer, announced the work schedule for the week of July 25 through 29 for his office.
Road closure —
Big Pete Road, CR-268 in Green Township, will be closed Monday, July 25, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The location of the closure is between Franklin Hollow Road and Ohio 522, being 1.41 miles from Ohio 522, 1.85 miles from Franklin Hollow Road and 2.82 miles from Gallia Pike Road. County engineer’s crews will be paving and performing finish work on box culvert.
Lucasville-Minford Road, CR-28 in Jefferson Township, will be closed Tuesday, July 26, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The location of the closure is between Morris Lane – CR-54 and Cook Road, being 0.10 miles from Ohio 728 and 0.40 from Cook Road, CR-30. County engineer’s crews will be performing road repair.
Road work — Ohio River Road, CR-503, from Ohio 522 to Portsmouth city limits in Porter Township continues to have lane restrictions through Monday, Oct. 31. Signals improvement, pavement milling, pavement resurfacing, curb replacement, and installing catch basins will be done by the Shelly Company. Road work will be performed on Lick Run-Lyra Road between U.S. 52 and Ohio River Road as part of this project.
Drag patching — Carey’s Run-Pond Creek Road in Rush, Union and Washington townships; Pollock Road in Rush and Union townships; Owensville Road in Rush Township
Mowing — Henley-Deemer Road in Union Township; Duck Run in Rush Township; McDermott-Pond Creek Road and Pollock Road in Rush and Union townships; Hansgen-Morgan Road and Mead-McNeer Road in Harrison Township; Dixon Mll Road in Harrison and Porter townships; Tick Ridge Road in Bloom and Harrison townships.
Bridge replacement — Swauger Valley Road, CR-31, at the 0.46 mile marker in Harrison Township continues to be closed through Friday, Aug. 19, both day and night. The location of the closure is between Elliott Hill Road and Birch Hollow Road being 0.46 mile from Ohio 335 and 2.27 miles from Woods Ridge Road. County engineer’s crews are replacing the bridge.
Work begins Monday on Ky. 1
Work will begin Monday, July 25, on a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet resurfacing project along Ky. 1 in Greenup County.
Paving operations are expected to take place through mid-August on 4.48 miles of Ky. 1 between Ky. 207 near Argillite and U.S. 23, and on 0.88 miles of Ky. 2540 from Corner Street east to Ky. 7. Motorists should expect daily lane closures, with one-lane traffic controlled by flaggers during daytime work hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Traffic delays are possible.
Mountain Enterprises Inc. has been awarded a $376,802.65 low-bid contract for the work.
Road work is subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, “Drive Smart” in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
