Northwest Volleyball Open Gym and Tryouts

Northwest High School will have an open gym July 21-23 and July 28-30 at 10 a.m. for anyone interested in playing volleyball. Tryouts will be Aug. 1 at 10 a.m.

Color Run

The second annual Color Run will take place Saturday July 25 at the Earl Thomas Conley Nature Walk near West Portsmouth High School. Registration is $20, and those who pre-register receive a free T-shirt. All proceeds benefit the Scioto County Special Olympics.

Pee Wee Football

Portsmouth Pee Wee Football and cheerleading sign-ups will take place July 23-24 from 5-7 p.m., at Portsmouth Elementary School near the cafeteria. Kids in grades first through sixth are eligible; please bring your child’s birth certificate. The cost is $30 for one child, $20 for a second child and $10 for a third child.

Anyone interested can also sign up at Spartan Stadium July 27-30 from 6-8 p.m.

High School Soccer Officiating

For those interested in officiating high school soccer, classes will be held at Newberry Sporting Goods in the coming weeks. Classes on July 27, July 28 and July 29 will be held from 6-10 p.m., classes on Aug. 1 and Aug. 8 will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the class on Aug. 2 will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. and the class held on Aug. 9 will run from 1 to 4 p.m. Online pre-registration and payment are required at http://officials.myohsaa.org/Logon.

Father Patterson Memorial Tournament

The annual Father Patterson Memorial Golf Tournament will be held July 31 at the Elks Country Club. Shotgun start is at 3 p.m, registration will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Cost is $240 per team and hole sponsors are available at $100 each. Lunch and soft drinks will be provided, along with several skill prizes.

Dog Days 5k

The 14th annual Circleville Dog Days 5K road race, presented by Red Barn, will be held Aug. 1 at 9 a.m., beginning and ending at Circleville High School.

Dog Days suncatchers will be given to the top three in each of 34 total age groups. Awards will also be given to the top three overall male and female finishers. Participants will also be eligible to win door prizes. Water and splits will be available on the course, and refreshments will be available at the finish.

Entry forms are available at www.circlevillexc.com or register the day of the race from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. There is a $15 pre-registration fee ($20 on race day). The first 150 registered will receive a free T-shirt.
