“Mama said there’d be days like this,” commented Minford coach Scott Caudill as he echoed the famous words from the classic song by The Shirelles. It was one of those days for the Minford Lady Falcons, as they fell to the Jackson Lady Ironmen, 49-45, Wednesday evening in Minford.
“Jackson played us very physical and we could never get in sync offensively,” Caudill said. “We shot 48% from the free throw line and we missed tons of lay-ups.”
It wasn’t just the players having a bad night for Minford, as Caudill said he was having an off night as well.
“I don’t want to put this entire loss on the way our kids preformed,” Caudill said. “Our kids played really hard but Jackson’s pressure defense caused us to shoot poorly. With that being said, I didn’t coach very well tonight. My girls need a better performance out of me.”
Caudill said he and his staff will urge the Lady Falcons to not focus too much on Wednesday night’s loss, as they must immediately turn around and take on a quick and tough Waverly team Thursday evening.
“We don’t have time to get down on ourselves,” Caudill said. “We have to pick our head back up and get mentally prepared for a tough Waverly team tomorrow (Thursday 12/17).”
Emma Shepherd led Minford on the night, scoring 11 points.
Erin Daniels and Marissa Risner helped the Lady Falcons with 10 points each.
Minford travels to Waverly Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m., and then will be off until the Glenwood Holiday Classic on December 28th and 29th.
