Pitcher is a three time all-conference, three time all-district honoree

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Softball) – The Shawnee State softball program has added a signee for the Class of 2017 as Brooke Blevins, a pitcher out of Unioto High School in Chillicothe, Ohio, signed with the Bears during this past week, as announced by head coach Steve Whittaker. Blevins will begin play at Shawnee State in the 2016-2017 academic year.

During her first three seasons with the Shermans, Blevins has already accumulated a laundry list of accolades. In her first three years of play, the 5-5 pitcher has been named as a First-Team All-Scioto Valley Conference (SVC) selection and a First-Team All-Southeast District selection in each season of her high school career.

In her junior season alone, Blevins not only was honored with the aforementioned awards, but was named the All-Southeast District’s Player of the Year en route to First-Team All-Ohio honors in the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s (OHSAA) Division II realm after leading Unioto to a 20-6 overall record and a OHSAA Division II District Final appearance.

In addition to her accomplishments in the circle, Blevins has also proven herself as a dedicated student inside the classroom as well as in the community realm. The senior holds not only a 3.5 grade-point-average, but is involved in 4-H, French Club, and Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). To top it all off, Blevins is an active member of the Army National Guard.

“Brooke’s going to serve as a great asset to our pitching staff,” Whittaker said. “She was First-Team All-State as a junior and plays at the Division II realm, which is very competitive in the State of Ohio. We’re looking forward to making our pitching staff better for the future.”
