The Waverly Lady Tigers had an incredible home game Monday night, beating the West Senators 78-42. Waverly had a strong lead after the first period, ending the quarter 17-10. The Tigers continued to broaden that gap in the second half.
“We did a great job sharing the basketball tonight,” said Waverly Head Coach John Bonifield. “Our ball movement was excellent in the second half, and we were able to get wide open looks.”
Leading the Tigers was Laken Smith. Smith had 28 points, 16 rebounds, nine assists and three steals.
“Laken was absolutely impressive. She was scoring, distributing, and rebounding. When she’s playing at that level, she brings us to an entire different level,” Bonifield commented.
Morgan Wiseman followed Smith, scoring 14 points. Wiseman also had two rebounds and two steals.
Makayla White led the Senators with 14 points. White has been a leading scorer for the Senators all season. During the game, she scored four-two pointers, one-three pointer and three free throws.
Waverly will play again Thursday against at Oak Hill. Meanwhile, the Senators will go on to play at home against Valley on Thursday.
