Porter Township Trustees’ special meeting

A special meeting of the Porter Township Trustees will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022 to consider the employment and compensation of personnel. Meetings are held at the Porter Township Hall, 1535 Dogwood Ridge Road, Wheelersburg, OH 45694.

Shawnee State University to host Founder’s Day celebration

Shawnee State University will host a Founder’s Day celebration for the campus and surrounding community on Friday, Oct. 14. The event will feature a presentation at 1 p.m. in the Morris University Center Ballroom, followed by a reception in the Morris University Center Lobby.

The event will feature a State of the University Address given by President Jeff Bauer followed by honoring of those employees celebrating their Service Recognition years and the presentation of the Founder’s Medal Award. To learn more about Shawnee State University, visit www.shawnee.edu.

Valley Local School Board meeting

Valley Local School will hold a Regular Board Meeting on October 20, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. in the High School Library. This Board meeting will serve as a forum giving the public and parents/guardians of students with disabilities and/or economically disadvantaged students the opportunity for input regarding the use of Federal Funds in Valley Local School District.

“Meals on a budget” workshop

The Workforce & Business Development Program (W&B) at the Community Action Committee of Pike County (CAC) will be hosting a “Meals on a Budget” Workshop that offers in-depth information on how to create a household grocery budget and develop meal plans to make the most of your food budget. During this no-cost workshop, attendees will receive tools, tips, and information on creating their own meal budget. In addition, the instructors will prepare a complementary low-cost dish for attendees to sample. The workshop will be held on Thursday, October 20th at the OhioMeansJobs Career Center at 941 Market Street in Piketon from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Shawnee State University to host Shawnee Game Conference Nov. 3 – 5

The conference, held on campus for over twenty years, brings together industry professionals, gaming enthusiasts, and the latest technology in a two-day event.

Tickets for the 2022 SGC are available for purchase online at www.shawneegamecon.com. The event ticket prices include $45.00 for a General Pass, $35.00 for a Student Pass, and $15.00 for an Expo Pass. There is group pricing available for those bringing groups of 15 or more.

General and Student Passes grant attendees access to the SGC Exhibit Showcase, sessions hosted by keynote and featured speakers, and interactive workshops and panels, as well as special events held throughout the conference. Those purchasing Expo Passes will have access to the Keynote Speaker session as well as the SGC Exhibit Showcase throughout the conference.
