Habitat to raise walls on 11th house

By WAYNE ALLEN

PDT Staff Writer

On the heels of dedicating its 10th house, Scioto County Habitat For Humanity announced they will be raising the walls on their 11th home, in a ceremony at noon on Saturday, May 19.

The house will be located on Linden Avenue in Portsmouth.

“This is an exciting time for Habitat. Our mission is to create safe, decent, affordable housing. Through the help of our many volunteers we are making our mission a reality,” said Laura Walker, Scioto County Habitat for Humanity co-president.

She said the organization is poised to build three houses this year for partner families.

“With the completion of the West Portsmouth house and raising of the walls on Linden Avenue we are well on our way to making this goal. We are still going to need all the help we can get both in volunteers and financial contributions,” Walker said.

Once completed the homeowner for the Linden Avenue house will be Carey White, who has two children.

Gov. John Kasich helped the organization dedicated its 10th house on May 3. This was the first Habitat for Humanity dedication Kasich has been a part of as governor.

The West Portsmouth house was dedicated in honor of the late Dr. Thomas Swope. Swope was member of Habitat’s board of directors at the time of his death.

Now He's the Guru Developer for all of SE Ohio? He's just the reporter to the reporters once removed just cause he got an audience with the Governor, once or twice? We all could have reported on the Web page up-date. Ain't he the one who served the sitting president in his establishment the only reason he gets these sound bites. Tell that $2 million for improving you property goodby Mr. Albrecht, just like the City's $2 million on the Marting's building. Just be blessed with those Tax Abatement's you have that the home owners are subsidizing you with like the rest of the business community. Wasn't he run out of Athens a real progressive happenin' town? Look at Athens' Master Plan on the net and you can get a CD, Mr Albrecht. Don't just be a reporter developer like the rest of them. What's that song title, "Rise up O' Men of God?"
