WHEELERSBURG — The Scioto County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a robbery that occurred Friday at Charter One Bank in Wheelersburg.
According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received at about noon on Friday from Charter One Security advising a hold up alarm had been activated at Charter One Bank on Ohio River Road in Wheelersburg. Security checked with the local bank and spoke with an employee who confirmed that the bank had just been robbed.
The suspect reportedly entered the bank, approached the teller and had a brief conversation concerning his desire to cash a check, at which time he displayed a paper note demanding money and instructing the teller not to talk. The teller immediately complied and gave the suspect an undetermined amount of cash at which time the suspect fled on foot, traveling east away from the bank.
The suspect is described as a white man, with dark hair and goatee, medium build and height, wearing blue jeans, sunglasses, green and tan camo jacket, and a light-colored white or tan safari hat. No firearm was displayed during the robbery.
