Representatives from AT&T were joined Monday by Kentucky State Representative Tanya Pullin, Greenup County Health Department and Greenup County School officials to announce a contribution of $10,000 for the upcoming Remote Area Medical clinic taking place at Greenup County High School on June 22-23.
Pullin said in an effort to meet the needs of hundreds of medically underserved and uninsured patients, local coordinators in Greenup County, Ky., are planning for more than 1,000 people to receive free dental, vision and general medical care. Patients do not have to be from Greenup County to attend and there are no eligibility requirements for patients, and no health insurance information is required or requested.
According to Pullin, the medical, dental, and vision care offered at RAM events is provided by an army of volunteers, both clinical and non-clinical. Cassie Mace, local event coordinator for the RAM Kentucky clinic in Greenup County recognized Pullin for her support of the program,
“We want to express our gratitude to everyone who has worked so hard to make the upcoming RAM clinic in Greenup County a reality,” Mace said. “Representative Tanya Pullin has been so dedicated to bringing excellent health care to our local area and she has worked very hard to bring numerous organizations and supporters in for this event.”
Pullin said, a few years ago, a local group of citizens decided to focus on improving the health rankings of Greenup County.
“The group meets regularly to assess what health needs exist in our community. In addition to walking/running trails and regular local health screenings, the upcoming RAM Clinic is a great way to improve the health and quality of life of our community,” Pullin said. “I applaud the hard work of the Greenup County Health Department, the Greenup County School System, University of Kentucky, University of Louisville’s Dental School, area doctors, nurses, dentists and dental hygienists, as well as local social service volunteers and churches to make this clinic possible. We appreciate AT&T and the addition they are to the quality of life in our community by providing hundreds of jobs and by supporting worthwhile endeavors of community volunteers such as RAM.”
Mace said a goal of all RAM clinics is to not be the only time patients patronize the medical system. Follow-up care is essential and a required element of all clinics. After receiving care, all patients will meet with Kentucky Homeplace who will provide resources for the next step in their medical journey. Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Foundation has served as the fiduciary agent for the RAM clinic in Greenup County.
“At AT&T, we are not only focused on providing cutting-edge communications services to our customers, but we also want to make a positive impact in the communities we serve,” John Gross, director of AT&T’s East Park call center said. “The opportunity to support the RAM clinic in Greenup County is significant to our East Park Call Center employees as we work to help our friends and neighbors in the local area.”
