On Tuesday, volunteers at the Scioto County Democratic Party headquarters took down a sign which bore the words “We really mean it this time,” placed next to their own sign which reads, “Hope Is On The Way.”

The vice-chair of the Scioto County Democratic Party, Charles Neal, said the Democratic Headquarters was not cognizant of who placed the sign on the building, or when it was placed there. Neal also said that he believed the sign was purposefully placed next to their ”Hope Is On The Way” sign to cast negative light upon the Democratic Party.

“I would have to assume that it was opposition. We try to watch the signs, but evidently that one got by us,” he said.

“It could have been from a democrat, or republican, or from a non-partisan voter, someone thought that it was important that they added to it, but that is their opinion. Well this is our building, and it doesn’t belong there without our permission. And we feel that whoever did it was wrong in doing this, which is the reason that we took it down.”

Despite their disdain of the placing of the sign, Neal said that the Scioto County Democratic Headquarters will continue to uphold decency, and will not participate in the destruction or removal of signs from the opposing party.

“I have no idea of the source. Its only to be assumed that it was someone that had a contradictory way of using the statement. I feel that as far as our position, we will not tamper with any signs of the opposing party. We will not remove any signs from the opposing party,” Neal said.
