Manchester teen arrested in rape of 3-year-old

Frank Lewis

PDT Staff Writer

Scioto County authorities have arrested a Manchester teen and charged him with rape, a felony of the first degree.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office received a call on June 4 from a Nile Township residence stating that her 3-year-old son had been sexually assaulted.

Donini said deputies responded to the location to obtain information for a report which was forwarded to a detective for an investigation. The victim was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment which resulted in the child being transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

Detectives were able to obtain some evidence along with a possible location of the suspect in Manchester, Ohio (Adams County). Detectives responded to Manchester Monday and were able to bring the suspect and his parent into the office for questioning.

Detectives then arrested a 15-year-old Manchester boy. The boy has been charged with one count of rape, a felony of the first degree, and is being held in the Ross County Juvenile Detention Center without bond and will appear in Portsmouth Juvenile Court on a later date.

Donini said anyone with information regarding the case should contact Detective Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091.
