A Lucasville man is facing kidnapping charges after being arrested in Jackson County. Justin Secrest, 30, was first arrested for attempted kidnapping on May 10, but on May 14 that charge became kidnapping, a felony of the first degree.

On May 10, the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a male subject trying to abduct a female whose vehicle was broken down on Ohio 32 and County Road 43A. Deputies responded and a search of the suspects vehicle was conducted. Neighboring counties were notified and a Jackson County deputy stopped a vehicle matching the description on Ohio 98 and U.S. 32.

Vinton County Sheriff Shawn Justice and Deputy Ryan Cain met with the Jackson County deputy and the suspect while Deputy Mike Kemmerling stayed with the victim and received further information and descriptions.

After an investigation, Secrest was arrested for attempted kidnapping. While officers were searching him, narcotics were found. Secrest was held in the Jackson County Jail on a charge of possession of narcotics while the case is being reviewed by Prosecuting Attorney Trecia Kimes-Brown.

On Tuesday, Secrest was charged with kidnapping, and bond was set at $100,000 through Vinton County Court.
