Today is a day off for any team that played yesterday. The eight winners from Wednesday don’t play their second round contests unitl Friday.Eight other first round games are being played today. Already in the books is Ohio Dominican’s loss to Dickinson State (N.D.). ODU and Cedarville were the two American Mideast Conference Schools (besides Shawnee State) in this year’s field. The Lady Jackets jumped out to a quick start yesterday before Bethel (Ind.), while ODU wasn’t within 10 points of Dickinson State after the early stages of the game. This leaves Shawnee State as the conference’s last team in the field. The Bears pushed their practice back to 2 p.m. local time so they would have more time to dissect game film before taking it to the practice court. On the court the Bears worked on their gameplan for tomorrow’s game, and got some shooting in. A couple players sat out different portions of the practice with minor injuries, but no one is expected to miss action tomorrow because of them.A good sign for the Bears: AMC player of the year Becky Babione saw the most practice time she has in over a week Thursday afternoon. The senior has averaged 12.9 points and nine rebounds per contest for the Bears this season. SSU went out to lunch after their practice and have since returned for a film breakdown session at the hotel. They will tip at 10:15 (11:15 EST) tomorrow morning.
