Valley’s balance leads to SOC II lead after 1st round

The Valley Indians finished the first round of SOC II play Tuesday knowing they are in first place by themselves entering the second round of conference play as they defeated host Waverly 74-66.

Bryan Rolfe and Jordan West each led Valley with 16 points as the Indians had five players in double figures. Chris Flowers finished with 14 points, Hayden Dunn had 11 and Will Howard chipped in with 10. Howard and West each had seven rebounds.

Jean Paul White’s 19 points was the game high in the loss. Philip Hart (16 points), Aaron Heibel (11) and Eric Rinehart

(10) also aided in the Tiger attack.

Valley hosts Minford to start the second round of SOC II play Friday. Waverly goes to Wheelersburg.

Minford 48, Oak Hill 36

Austin McBee’s 60-footer at the third quarter buzzer capped off a 24-12 period for host Minford as the Falcons erased a 17-12 halftime deficit to post a 48-36 win over Oak Hill and set up a tie for second place in the SOC II.

McBee led all scorers with 10 points, Jared McCray had 13 points and 13 rebounds and Kenton Gullion chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Drew Haislop led the Oaks with 15.

Minford will try to exact revenge on Valley Friday when the Falcons go to Lucasville. Oak Hill welcomes West.

South Webster 76, West 72

Despite 25 points from JB Travis, South Webster left West with a 76-72 SOC II victory thanks to 24 from Levi Cook.

Andrew Salisbury had 18 points, Jensen Dyer checked in with 14 and Seth Goddard added 13 in the win. Michael Hafer finished with 17 for the Senators, who travel Friday to Oak Hill.

The Jeeps end their three-game road trip Friday at Northwest.

Host Wheelersburg held Northwest Tuesday to a single point in the second quarter as the Pirates cruised to a 55-21 SOC II win.

Dylan Miller led Wheelersburg with a game-high 13 points and J.D. Widdig had 10. Drew Scarberry and Tylor Slack each had six to pace the Mohawks.

The Pirates welcome Waverly to start the second round of SOC II action Friday. Northwest entertains South Webster.

Three Portsmouth Trojans, led by Jayllen Carter’s game-high 25, led the visitors to a 63-54 nonconference win over Whiteoak.

Sky Oliver had 11 and Alex Dickerson chipped in with 10 for the Trojans. Portsmouth hosts Jackson Friday to start the second round of SEOAL play.
