Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said Monday that a Lucasville man has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. Arrested was Kyle Cassidy, 27, of Miller’s Run Back Run Lucasville. He has been charged with one count of Aggravated Robbery, a felony of the first degree, and is being held on a $250,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on a later date.

Donini said the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office 911 center received a call from a Miller’s Run Back Run residence on Jan. 31, 2013 stating that the caller and his wife and two small children had returned home at 11 p.m. and observed that the house had been ransacked. The owner then observed a male subject inside of their residence holding a knife. According to Donini, a struggle ensued, that resulted in the suspect kicking the female, who was pregnant, in the stomach.

He then held the knife up to the man’s throat and demanded his wallet and stated he was going to kill him. Deputies said the victim was able to get his hand in between the knife and his throat which resulted in the victim getting a laceration on his hand. The suspect then stated another person was out front with a shotgun but no one else was ever seen. The suspect fled the house taking a set of car keys which he used to steal the the victims’ vehicle.

Donini said both victims were treated and released at Southern Ohio Medical Center as a result of their injuries. Detectives and Deputies patrolled the area looking for the stolen vehicle and possible suspect.

Donini said on Feb. 1, 2013, his detectives received information that the suspect was in a vehicle in Portsmouth. That information was forwarded to the Portsmouth Police Department which assisted in making a traffic stop on the vehicle. The suspect was arrested without incident which resulted in the stolen vehicle being recovered on High St. in Minford.

Cassidy is being held on a $250,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court at a later date.

Donini said more charges will be presented to the Scioto Couny grand jury on a later date. He said anyone with information regarding thecase can contact Detective Denver Triggs at 740-351-1093. He said all calls will remain anonymous.
