Timothy Jennings, 57

Timothy Scott Jennings, 57, of Sciotoville, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born Jan. 20, 1955, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Paul Marvin Jennings, and Ida Hazel Duncan Jennings of Wheelersburg.

Tim was baptized at the Grant & Summit Street Church of Christ and was a 1973 graduate of East High School. He attended Marshall University where he obtained a Bachelor of Library Science degree in 1978. Tim was a former 6th ward councilman for the city of Portsmouth. He loved the many years he spent as the bookmobile librarian and later as head of the audio visual department. He wrote a weekly article for the Portsmouth Daily Times and always ended it with “Keep Your Mind Active and Read”, which was something in which he truly believed.

In addition to his mother, Tim is also survived by his wife, Linda Sue Arthur Jennings, whom he married Nov. 29, 1994, in New Boston; a son, Charles Jennings of Huntington, W.Va.; two daughters, Jackie (Chris) Turner of New Boston, and Ashley (Zach) Harr of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, Jack (Jane) Jennings of Hillsboro, and Paul (Teresa) Jennings of Wauwatosa, Wisc.; six grandchildren, Kyle Humfleet, Kyle Jennings, Chaffin and Alex Munion, Keira Humfleet and Alyssa Jennings.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Rev. Gary Heimbach officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Portsmouth Public Library, 1220 Gallia St., Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.
