Sherman Lore, 84

Sherman F. Lore, 84 of Portsmouth died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at his residence. He was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Portsmouth a son of the late Walter Lore and Minnie Cartmil Lore.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel Cooley Lore.

Sherman was retired from Custom Steel in Wurtland, Ky. and was a Deacon at the 7th Street Christian Baptist Church in Portsmouth.

He is survived by his daughter Patricia (Bob) Weeks of Carmel Ind.; two brothers, George Lore and Darrel Lore both of Portsmouth; sisters, Alta Mae Thompson of Portsmouth, Edith Wilhite of Tennessee, Betty Burke of Middletown and Joy Oaks of Middletown. Three grandchildren, Kirk, Julie and Tammy and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Madison.

He was also preceded in death by sisters, Stella Ladow, Mary Bender and Annie Rossiter; and brothers, Stanley and Charles Lore.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers; Sandy, Regina, Marcella, Ruth, Joyce and his nephew Greg Lore.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the 7th Street Christian Baptist Church in Portsmouth with Darrin Lore officiating. Burial will be in Rushtown Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky.
