Robert (Bob) Porter, 79

Russell Robert (Bob) Porter, 79, of Pataskala, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.

Born Sept. 15, 1933, in Scioto County, a son of the late Russell and Ethel (Griffit) Porter, he was a retired self-employed auto technician, and a member of Summit Station Free Will Baptist Church in Pataskala.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Lykins) Porter, whom he married on Nov. 24, 1950; one daughter, Barbara (Darrell) Dyer of Portsmouth; one son, Jack Porter of Pataskala; two grandchildren, Todd (Kim) Hammonds of Pataskala, Mary Ann (Larry) Evans of Minford, and one great-grandson; Tyler Evans of Minford, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Lykins, Mary Louise Thacker, Gladys Marie Hahn, and one brother, Larry Porter.

Funeral services will be conducted noon, Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Rev. Ron Parker officiating. Burial will be in Harrison-Furnace Cemetery near Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
