McKinley Donald Vance, 78, of Wheelersburg, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
Born May 20, 1933, in Logan County, W.Va., a son of the late John and Myrtle (Buchannon) Vance. He was a member of Sand Hill Christian Baptist Church near Wheelersburg, and a Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by three sons, Karl D. (Vicki) Vance of Baton Rouge, La., Timothy W. (Tina) Vance of St. Albans, W.Va., Ronald G. (Cheryl) Vance, of Ashford, W.Va.; two daughters, Joyce (Randy) Abshire of Georgetown, Ky., Karla (Trent) Murphy of Hurricane, W.Va.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Claude (Judy) Vance of Columbus, and a sister, Evelyn Riddell of Akron, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline S. Vance on Oct. 10, 2010, whom he married in 1954; five brothers, Laurel Vance, Naaman Vance, French Vance, Nathan Vance, John Vance; and two sisters, Essel Perry and Phyllis Collins.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, at Sand Hill Christian Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Blevins and Rev. Tony Mollett officiating. Burial will be in Universal Cemetery in Rubyville. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by the James Irwin Post No. 622 and William Baker Post No. 363 American Legion.
