Loretta Faye Woodrum Stringer, 71, of Wheelersburg, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Born April 29, 1938, in Powellton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Jessie Ray and Helena Queen Woodrum, she was a nutritional aid for Best Care Rehab Center and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.

She is survived by four sons, Joe (Alma) Stringer, Robbie (Beverly) Stringer, and Jim (Susan) Stringer, all of Wheelersburg, and Bob (Tami) Stringer of Sunbury; one daughter, Kathy (Kenneth) Givens Rockwell of Rosemount; nine grandchildren, Kara Givens, Dustin Givens, Jody Stringer, Tasha Stringer, Logan Stringer, Brandon Stringer, Ashley Stringer, Jeremy Rockwell and Nick Rockwell; eight great-grandchildren, Chelsea Adkins, Michala Lewis, Kaylor Rockwell, Elizabeth Rockwell, Lilly Rockwell, Lucy Rockwell, Breana Glascock and Hayley Glascock, “their Mamaw Pocket;” and three sisters, Norma Bodkins of Cleveland, Helen Cales of Ravenna and Wanda Coulter of Clay, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim Bob” Stringer whom she married Dec. 20, 1952, in Fayette County, W.Va.; and two brothers, Cecil Ray Woodrum and Robert Lee Woodrum.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before the service on Thursday.
