Janet Beekman, 86

Janet Louise Smith Beekman age 86 of Wheelersburg died Jan. 26, 2013, at her residence. She was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Wheelersburg, Ohio to the late Albert Smith and Shirley Cook Smith. She was a 1945 Wheelersburg High School graduate. She was a life long member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church, a member of the Shawnee Golden Bears. She enjoyed following the girls basketball team and visiting with her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Rhea and two brothers, Harland Smith and George Smith.

Surviving is her husband, William C. (Bill) Beekman who she married Dec. 3, 1952, in Wheelersburg, Ohio. Also surviving are four children, Patty Jo (Jodi) Beekman of Apache Junction, Ariz., Gwen (Dave) Delabar of Wheelersburg, Dan (Ruth) Beekman of Wheelersburg and Dennis (Julie) Beekman of Flatwoods, Ky., one brother, Lester Smith, nine grandchildren, Ryan Thrower, Corey Thrower, Jon Delabar, Nathan Delabar, Danielle Beekman, Josh Beekman, Aaron Beekman, Autumn Collier and Anthony Collier and five great grandchildren, Caden Delabar, Avery Delabar, Mallory Delabar, Olivia Thrower and Isabelle Collier.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Saint John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Beck officiating. Burial will be in Saint John’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the HARRISON-PYLES FUNERAL HOME Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice.
