Howard McGlone, 88, of Greenup, Ky., passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at his residence, in the arms of Jesus, also surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born in Rooney, Ky., a son of the late Samuel Fred McGlone and Mollissic Kiser McGlone. He was a member of the Load Christian Baptist Church at Load, Ky., a WW II Army veteran, retired from the former C-E Refractory of South Shore, Ky., was also a retired farmer. He loved to go to church and sit on his porch waving and smiling at every car that went by.

He was preceded in death by a son, Roger McGlone; and a granddaughter, Angel Esposito; five brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Ethel Janice McGlone; a son, Leonard (Debbie) McGlone of South Shore, Ky.; one daughter, Chyrl (Tony) Esposito of Greenup, Ky.; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Esposito of Greenup, Ky.; two grandsons, Jason (LeAnne) McGlone of Grayson, Ky., and Aaron McGlone of Lexington, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Whitley and Ty McGlone of Grayson, Ky.; and two very special friends, Jerry Wolfe and Olivia Chapman.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with the Rev. Danny Dick and Jason McGlone officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery at South Shore, Ky. Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home from 6 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday. Military graveside services will be conducted by the James L. Flannery American Legion Post No.276 of South Shore, Ky.
