Edith L. Proctor, 85, a former Clarktown resident, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.

Born June 9, 1924, in Scioto County, a daughter of the late Delbert M. and Georgia Lee Sizemore Rhoden, she was a homemaker and was a member of Long Run Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Gregory Proctor of Gallipolis; three grandchildren, Michelle (John) Franz of Kenton, Courtney (Dustin) Adkins of Lucasville, and David Sammons of Lucasville; one great-grandson, Jeremy Franz; and two sisters, Janet (Joe) Perinovic of Navarra, Fla., and Elaine (Kenneth) Clark of Houston, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo D. Proctor, on Dec. 20, 1984, whom she married on June 20, 1945; and one daughter, Jennifer Riggs, on Jan. 28, 2007.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with Pastor John King and Brother Harold Harness officiating. Burial will be in Collier Memorial Gardens in South Portsmouth, Ky. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday.
