Dr. William Franklin Hoover, 80, of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., and Niles Township, died suddenly Oct. 28, 2009, in Detroit, Mich. Son of the late Mildred Werner Hoover and L.F. Hoover. Baptized First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. Portsmouth High School graduate 1947. Proud former Portsmouth Times newsboy, Front Street route, teenage radio announcer WPAY. Photojournalist, equipment designer, woodworker, towboat enthusiast, magazine columnist (“Doc Catfish”), teacher, instructional materials specialist, educational filmstrip creator and publisher. Dr. Hoover taught for 43 years in Ohio, Norfolk, England (U.S. Dependents Schools, Sculthorpe AFD), and Michigan (Grosse Pointe, Mich., public schools).

Beloved husband of Eula. Loving father of Valerie Przydatek and Bill Jr. Proud grandfather of Lindsay, Kendall, and Christine Cassidy; and Olivia, Billy III, and Brooke Hoover. Proud stepgrandfather of John and Augustus Przydatek.
