PDT Staff Report
According to a release from the Ohio Department of Transportation, the U.S. 52 overpass bridge of County Route 7 near Franklin Furnace was closed Tuesday evening due to structural damage.
The bridge, part of Junior Furnace-Powellsville Road, was struck by a bucket truck causing enough damage for the overpass to be closed until it can be inspected by ODOT and deemed safe for travel.
The release from ODOT said U.S. 52 traffic is not impeded by the bridge closure, however, motorists who use C.R. 7 are advised to seek alternate routes.
The bridge crosses U.S. 52 at the route’s 35.72 mile marker four miles west from the Scioto-Lawrence County line.
