Avinell Maxine Fannin May, 83, of Sarasota, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at her residence.

She was born March 21, 1926, in South Shore, Ky., a daughter of the late Fred Fannin and Hiley Roberson Fannin. She was a former resident of South Shore, Ky. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vermal H. May, Jan. 24, 1995; one brother, Woodrow Fannin; and two sisters, Virginia Newberry and Marcella Ealey.

Surviving are one son and his wife, Larry and Libby May of Lakewood Ranch, Fla.; one daughter, Tammy Jo May Long of Hinsdale, Ill.; one brother, Jack Fannin of South Shore, Ky.; one sister, Juanita Belcher of Cleveland, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with the Rev. Tammy Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery at South Shore, Ky. Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home from 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday.
