PRP Press Release

Portsmouth Raceway Park hosted its largest car count of the young 2014 season, as over 90 race teams were on hand this past Saturday on the night of The Premier Pre-cast Products Limited Late Model Extravaganza.

Coal Grove’s John Melvin returned to winner’s circle in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Late Model Division winning the showcased event of the evening. The nine-time track champ led every lap but the first one in both his heat and the feature. Huron held on for second. Evyian Terry, Tracy Ross, and Mike Meyers rounded out the top 5.

For the second straight week Grayson, KY’s Jackie Boggs was the feature winner in the Giovanni’s Pizza Super Late Models. Boggs was once again dominant throughout the evening much like he was a week earlier. The two-time track champ set fast time and led every lap of the Late Model feature. Veteran Delmas Conley finished second, Wesbanco points leader Ben Adkins placed third.

Also for the second week in a row, Lake Shore, Minnesota’s Dan Ebert again managed to nab the RW Rental and Supplies Modified A-Main in the closing laps defending track champ Todd Robinson padded his current Wesbanco points lead finishing as the race’s runner-up. Jeremy Rayburn, Tim Tribbey, Tony DeHart rounded out the Top 5.

In the M& M Inflatables Bomber Division, Piketon’s Jason Spillman captured his first feature of the season. Finishing right behind him were Conard Newman and Zach Pendleton who were virtually side by side for second with Newman holding off the teenager by mere feet.

PRP will be back in action this coming Saturday. Gates will open at 4 p.m., and racing will start at 7:30.
