The New Boston Tigers defeated the Green Bobcats 36-35 in an SOC I affair Thursday evening.


New Boston was led offensively by senior Kiersten McGraw who scored 14 points.


Green had two players reach double figures, led by Madison Applegate who finished the game with 13 and Kaylynn Blizzard who finished the contest with 11 points.


Trailing 24-18 at halftime, the Bobcats rallied in the third quarter to take a 32-30 lead into the final quarter. The Tigers trailed by two late in the contest when Emily Waugh hit a three-point field goal with 11 seconds remaining.


New Boston, seed at No. 8, will take on No. 9 Whiteoak in the first round of the sectional tournament on Monday, Feb. 10. Green will play Ironton St. Joseph in the first round of the sectional tournament on Wednesday, Feb 12.

Valley 49, Minford 44

The Valley Indians picked up their 13th win of the season with a 49-44 victory over the Minford Falcons.

Bethany Conley led the way for Valley with 15 points and eight rebounds. Taylor Skaggs also had eight boards while chipping in seven points for the Indians. Lexie Doddridge finished the contest with nine points and recorded six steals on the defensive end.

For the Falcons, Carrie Wynn scored 13 while Brooklyn Yeley finished the game with 12 points.

Minford kicks off tournament play as the No. 8 seed and will face No. 9 Portsmouth Wednesday, Feb. 12. No. 4 Valley will play No. 5 Wheelersburg Saturday, Feb. 15.
