LATHAM — The Notre Dame Titans picked up a road win over Western Tuesday night 63-51.

Notre Dame (15-2, 10-1) had four players reach double figures with Daniel Ogg leading the way with 17 points. Will Toleman, C.J. Smith and Dakota Smith also scored in double figures for the Titans.

Toleman scored 12, C.J Smith added 11 and Dakota Smith chipped in with 10 points in the victory.

Notre Dame coach Matt Made was pleased with the balance his team showed, noting Will Haney was one point away from making it five Titan players with double digit point totals.

“It was good to see the balance,” Mader said. “It seems like every game we have three or four guys in double figures. Tonight we had four, almost five with Will Haney. We shared the ball well and we did a good job of finding the open man.”

The aforementioned double-digit scorers also put up strong numbers on the glass. Toleman led the Titans with nine rebounds. Dakota Smith was one board off Toleman’s total with eight rebounds while Ogg secured seven boards. C.J. Smith pulled down six rebounds for Notre Dame.

“We did a nice job of rebounding the basketball,” Mader said. “We had 13 or 14 offensive rebounds. They all did a nice job of going to the glass, getting extra opportunities for us and finishing those chances.”

On the defensive side of the ball, the Titans struggled to contain Nick Shanks and Dakota Garrett. Shanks finished with 18 while Garrett scored 16 points for the Indians.

“They have some guys that can put it on the floor and they shoot it well, especially Garrett, he shoots it really well,” Mader said. ” … Those two kids our outstanding players and played very well tonight.”

Notre Dame’s next contest is Friday as the Titans welcome the Clay Panthers to town. Mader expects a tough matchup against the fellow SOC I member.

“I expect another battle,” Mader said. “They are big and long, and they present a lot of problems for us. We are going to have to play well.”
