Portsmouth connected on 11 3-pointers, six alone by Sky Oliver, to grab a 76-49 home nonconference win Saturday night over Piketon.


Ky’re led the way for the Trojans with a game-high 21 points while Oliver finished with 19 and Alex Dickerson added 10. Wyatt Brewster had 10 for the Redstreaks.


Portsmouth entertains Peebles in Tuesday’s nonconference tilt. Piketon will look to bounce back Tuesday when another Southern Hills Athletic Conference member, Manchester, visits Pike County.

All 12 players who dressed for Clay Saturday night scored in the Panthers’ 69-13 SOC I home win over New Boston.

The game was originally scheduled for Jan. 7 but was rescheduled because of weather. Nate Hinze and Michael Schmidt each had 12 points in the win. Tyler Shonkwiler had five for the Tigers.

Conference play continues for both teams Tuesday night as Clay will welcome Symmes Valley to Rosemount while New Boston entertains Eastern.

Visiting Peebles erased a 10-point third quarter deficit Saturday to post a 67-64 SHAC win over Lynchburg-Clay.

Beau Justice scored 20 of his game-high 26 points in the second half while Eric Schmitz added 10. Justice led the team with eight rebounds while Mason Johnson and Tyler Ryan each had seven.

The Indians hit the road again Tuesday to play Portsmouth in a nonconference game.

Clay 68, Chillicothe Huntington 56

Lexie Gilliland recorded a triple-double while Katie Redding had a double-double Saturday as Clay ended a four-game losing streak with a 68-56 win at Chillicothe Huntington.

Gilliland finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to go along with four blocks in the win. Redding added 18 points and 11 rebounds. The Panthers also received 14 points from Emily Widdowson and 12 from Shannon Curley.

Clay welcomes East in Monday’s SOC I action.
