Lexie Doddridge was one of four Valley players to reach double figures Saturday as the visiting Indians defeated Ironton 64-46 in a nonconference contest.


Doddridge had a team-high 17 points on the afternoon while Bethany Conley and Darby High each had 14 and Kamryn Conaway chipped in with 10. The Fighting Tigers were paced by a game-high 22-point outing by Lexie Barrier and 11 from Taylor Hannan.


Valley returns to conference play Monday to entertain West. Ironton will resume play Thursday with a short trip across the river to Boyd County (KY).

Bri Wiget had a game-high 21 points and four assists Saturday to lead host Waverly to a 52-48 nonconference win over Chillicothe Southeastern.


Brittany Green added seven points and six rebounds for the Tigers. Waverly returns to SOC II play Monday when state-ranked Oak Hill pays a visit.

Notre Dame 55, East 29

Four of the Notre Dame’s five players to score Saturday reached double figures in a 55-29 SOC I home win over East.


The game was rescheduled because of Monday’s weather system that passed through the state. Hagen Schaeffer led the Titans with 15 points, Brooke Pierron had 14 points, eight rebounds and five steals, Ragen Kayser chipped in with 13 points and Katie Stevenson finished with 11. Brooklyn Meadows finished with 11 points to lead the Tartans.


Notre Dame plays its third SOC I game in five days Monday when Green pays a visit. The same goes for East with a trip to Clay.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Athens 77, Valley 71 (2 OT)

Despite a 3-pointer by Chris Flowers with two seconds remaining in the first overtime, Valley could not find a way to pull out a victory Saturday as the Indians fell 77-71 to Athens in the Beast of the Southeast tournament at Chesapeake High School.


Jordan West led Valley with 22 points and 12 rebounds, Hayden Dunn finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Flowers chipped in with 19 points. The Indians return home Tuesday to entertain Northwest in an SOC II contest. The game site was switched after the two teams played Dec. 23 in McDermott.
