Wheelersburg used a balanced scoring effort to get a key SOC II victory on the road as the Pirates defeated Waverly 57-33 Friday evening.


The balanced attack was led by Jacob Spradlin, whose 15 points and two 3-pointers led the team, while Dylan Miller added 10 points to give Wheelersburg its fourth-straight win. The Tigers’ Pierce Knisley led all scorers with 20 in the loss.


The Pirates will resume SOC II play on Tuesday when West comes to town for the final regular-season meeting between the schools this season. Waverly will travel Saturday to Jackson before the Tigers resume conference play Tuesday night against visiting Minford.


Oak Hill 54, West 53

Oak Hill was able to turn a 7-2 advantage on 3-point goals into a one-point victory over host West West in a 54-53 SOC II contest.


Five of the Oaks’ made 3-pointers came from Kyle Cox, who finished with 19 points. Michael Stiltner added 14 points while Jordon Fisher chipped in 10 of his own to lead Oak Hill to the victory.


The Senators were led by Michael Hafer, who scored a game-high 31 points and made 11 of West’s 13 free throw attempts, and Michael Davis, who added an additional 14 points.


The Oaks and the Senators will resume play with a pair of SOC II conference games Tuesday evening as Oak Hill will host South Webster while West will travel to Wheelersburg.


SOC I

Notre Dame 54, Eastern 48

Notre Dame became the first SOC I team to make it to 10 wins on the year with a 54-48 road win over Eastern in SOC I play Friday evening.


C.J. Smith led the Titans with 14 points while Daniel Ogg and Will Haney added 10 on the strength of a perfect day from the free throw line. Ogg added nine rebounds to his statline while Haney dished out four assists and added three steals to lead Notre Dame in both categories.


Trace Creech led a balanced scoring effort for the Eagles as the junior scored 12 points. Ethan Leist, Ben Hesson and Josh Thacker each added 11 for Eastern.


Both teams will hit the road to take part in a pair of SOC I games Tuesday evening. The Titans travel to crosstown rival East while Eastern will make the trek to New Boston.


Western 54, Clay 53

Dakota Garrett hit three of Western’s four 3-pointers as the Indians pulled out a 54-53 SOC I win over visiting Clay.


Garrett led the team with 16 points. Nick Shanks put up 14 points while Ethan Riggs chipped in with 10 of his own.


The Panthers were led by Eldin Sarajlic, whose 25 points and 16 rebounds were game-highs. Michael Schmidt added 10 for Clay.


Both teams will resume play Saturday as the Indians will host Paint Valley in a nonconference affair while the Panthers will entertain New Boston.


SHAC

Peebles 73, West Union 68

Peebles remained undefeated in conference and overall play Friday with a 73-68 win at West Union in a Southern Hills Athletic Conference matchup.


Beau Justice led the way for the Indians as his 19 points (17 in the second half) and 13 assists were team highs. Zach Arrasmith scored a career-high 18 points while Eric Schmitz and Cody Ireton added 16 and 10 respectively. Schmitz and Ireton also grabbed eight rebounds each.


The Dragons were led by James Sellars’ 19 points. Bobby Welch added a dozen points by accounting for three of the team’s five 3-point baskets on the evening.


Peebles will remain in conference play Saturday as the Indians take on Lynchburg-Clay in Lynchburg. West Union, meanwhile, will not take the court until the Dragons travel to West for a nonconference affair.
