Kentucky Christian University Press Release

Kentucky Christian University junior setter Lauren Dunn was named the MVP of the NCCAA Mid-East region for her performance throughout the 2013 volleyball season.

At the Mid-East regional tournament, Dunn sprained her ankle in the last point of the semi-final match. After three hours of ice and a roll of tape, Dunn turned in one of her best performances by recording 46 assists, six kills, five assisted blocks and two aces in the regional final game.

The Lady Knights won their regional tournament and participated in the NCCAA national tournament, ending the season with a 28-11 record.

Dunn was named NCCAA First Team All-American and AVCA First Team All-American for the second season in a row.

Earlier in the year, Dunn broke the all-time assist record at KCU. The previous record was set at 2,167, which was held by Grace Conkel. Dunn currently has 3,209 assists. The Knights play NCCAA, NAIA and NCAA Division II teams.

Dunn is a 2011 Valley graduate, the daughter of Jeff and Shumaine Dunn of Lucasville and grand-daughter of Carl and Linda Dunn, and Berverly Penrod of Waverly.
