Wheelersburg won a quad match at Shawnee State Golf Course Thursday.

The Pirates shot a 171, which was 18 shots better then West who came in second. Clay shot a 197, which was good enough for third place. Notre Dame did not have enough members to field a team.

The Pirates’ Mitchell McFarland was the low medalist after he shot a 35 for the round. Luke Morgan and Jordan Tieman shot a 39, which lead the Senators.

Aaron Phipps shot a 47, which lead the Panthers.

Notre Dame def. New Boston

25-18, 25-8, 25-7

Notre Dame improved their record to 4-0 with a straight sets win against New Boston.

The Titans where led by Emma Gohman, Madi Phillips and Hagen Scheafer. Gohman had six kills and four blocks.

Phillips had nine aces and won a total of 15 points on her serve. Scheafer also served well, recording six aces while winning 16 points on her serve. Scheafer also had four kills.

Wheelersburg def. Valley

25-19, 25-16, 28-26

Wheelersburg defeated in South Webster in straight sets to improve its record to 2-0.

Brittany Adams, Marley Hanzel and Maggie Stegeman lead the way for the Pirates. Adams had seven digs while Hanzel recorded 17 kills. Stegeman recorded 12 kills of her own.

Wheelersburg travels to South Webster Tuesday.

Jackson def. Portsmouth

25-10, 25-23, 25-8, 25-13

Portsmouth fell to Jackson in the first conference game of the young season.

Despite the loss, Jacqueline Meriwether, Madeline Clayton and Bailey Horsley stood out for the Trojans’

Meriwether had eight kills and four blocks while Horsley blocked two shots of her own and had five kills. Clayton recorded 15 assist.

Valley def. Northwest


Valley defeated Northwest 7-2 behind Aaron Linne’s first career goal.

Linne scored in the 77th minute with an assist to Rodney Spriggs who had two on the night.

Tyler Montavon scored the first two goals of the game, which was his third and fourth goals of the season, and Bryce Romanello improved his season total to five goals after a two goal effort as well.

Valley welcome Wheelersburg to town on Tuesday.

Wheelersburg beat New Boston behind a Keith Thumer goal in the 76th minute.

For Keith Thumer, it was his second goal of the game. To go along with the two goal night, Keith Thumer also assisted on Devon Thumer’s goal.

Zach Jordan got the win with a six-save effort.

Wheelersburg travels to Valley on Tuesday.
