The tragic loss of actor Robin Williams ignited conversations around the world about a topic that is very real — suicide. Regardless of the reason that a person chooses to end his or her life, the result leaves family and friends, and in the case of Robin Willliams fans, devastated. Those left behind are left to piece things together, to try to make sense of it all, as they morn the loss of their loved one. Undeniably, when suicide does occur, the only one that can give the real reason for the person’s act is God, we can only speculate in many cases. It always saddens me when I hear that a person has committed suicide, regardless of who they are, they don’t have to be famous, they are a human being whose life has just as significance as a celebrity. I know that life is full of struggles, challenges, and unfortunately, many times, very painful experiences. Succinctly, the difficulties that life delivers can be quite daunting, making a person feel as if there is no way that things can get better, that hope is something sadly elusive. However, my friend, if you have been contemplating suicide, I want you to know that there is hope, and no matter what you are going through, that Jesus Christ, who is our personal Savior loves you, cares for you, and can provide you with a peace that nothing in this world can give. Also, there are people that you can reach out to, that are willing to talk to you, to help you work through your problems. There is hope for you, and God can heal your life, and there are people in this world, that genuinely care for others. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-8255 provides continual assistance. Your life has meaning, you do matter, seek out the help and live.
