FRANKLIN FURNACE — According to reports from Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini’s office, a call was received by an elderly Franklin Furnace female on July 4, 2014, who stated that a safe in her residence containing medication had been broken into, and medication stolen from the safe.
Reports reveal sheriff’s deputies responded to the Franklin Furnace location and a report was taken and forwarded to a detective for an investigation. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned of a possible suspect, and attempts were made to locate the suspect.
According to Donini, his detectives were able to locate the suspect in Franklin Furnace on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, who was walking on Maynard Ave. Stevens was arrested without incident.
Cody A. Stevens, 23, of Walburn Avenue, in Franklin Furnace, has been charged with theft, a felony of the second degree and fugitive of justice out of Kentucky. Stevens is being held without bond in the Scioto County Detention Center, and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on a later date.
Donini said it is an ongoing investigation, and the suspect has been involved in other crimes in the Franklin Furnace area that will be presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury at a later date.
