ASHLAND, Ky. — The Jesse Stuart Foundation will host an open house celebrating the 108th birthday of the late Greenup County writer Jesse Stuart, and the 35th year of the foundation named in Stuart’s honor. The open house event will be held Friday, Aug. 8 at noon until 6 p.m. at 1645 Winchester Ave., in Ashland, Ky.
Dr. James Gifford, CEO of the Jesse Stuart Foundation, said they are looking forward to this year’s open house.
“As always, we are looking forward to the open house. It is a wonderful opportunity to be involved with our public, but more than anything, it is an opportunity for us to encourage literacy and learning through our books,” Gifford said.
According to Gifford, the open house will include a book sale in which customers will receive coupons valued at 15 percent in savings for items such as glassware, and vintage linens, as well as books signed by Stuart and other special items. He said refreshments will be available, as well as live entertainment by local artists.
