Information is sketchy surrounding the death of a young Portsmouth man in an apparent four-wheeler crash. Only a minimum amount of information was available from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, who investigated the accident. That information was that the Sheriff’s Office was currently investigating a crash that occurred Friday at 8:25 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Tony Whitt, Jr., 19, of Portsmouth and the location as behind the Stag Bar in an open field off of U.S. 23 in Portsmouth. They said the crash remains under investigation.
William McKinley at the McKinley Funeral Home reported Tony A. Whitt, 19, died at Cabell Huntington Hospital around 10 p.m. Friday following an accident in which he was reportedly thrown from a four-wheeler around 8:30 p.m. McKinley said the information he received was that the area where the crash occurred was listed as the Boone Coleman farm, and that it is a place where ATVs are ridden.
McKinley said funeral arrangements are pending at the Mckinley Funeral Home.
